Peter Lillback
President, Westminster Theological Seminary
Dr. Peter A. Lillback is the president of The Providence Forum, the non-profit organization committed to preserving and promoting the spirit, faith, values and worldview of America’s Founding Fathers. He is also president of Westminster Theological Seminary and senior pastor of Proclamation Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He has also served as Professor of Church History at Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia.
Dr. Lillback holds degrees from Cedarville University (B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and Westminster Theological Seminary (Ph.D.). He is most recently the author of the nationally bestselling George Washington’s Sacred Fire (Providence Forum Press), representing the culmination of over 15 years of primary-source research and scholarship, for which he has received scholarly acclaim, national press and media coverage. He is also the author of The Binding of God: Calvin’s Role in the Development of Covenant Theology (Baker), the editor of and contributor to The Practical Calvinist: An Introduction to the Presbyterian and Reformed Heritage (Christian Focus) and author of the forthcoming Lessons on Liberty – A Primer for Young Patriots. He has published many articles, including as a guest writer for The Washington Times and Philadelphia Inquirer.
In July 2005 Dr. Lillback became only the 4th president of Westminster Theological Seminary in its rich 77-year history. He is a tenured Professor of Historical Theology and has taught courses through the whole range of church history, with a special interest in the Reformation and early modern era. Living between Philadelphia and Valley Forge for many years, Dr. Lillback has pursued an avid interest in the history of the Judeo-Christian heritage of the United States. He has performed research and study on the founding and Founders of our nation through examination of original source documents in countless libraries and archives. Among the outgrowths of his research are Freedom's Holy Light...with a firm reliance on Divine Providence (Providence Forum Press), and Proclaim Liberty… a Broken Bell Rings Freedom to the World (Providence Forum Press).
Beyond his historical interests, Lillback is a popular speaker and writer on many world-view issues, and has debated Barry Lynn, president of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. He is the voice of Proclaiming The Word, a daily syndicated radio program, as well as The Proclamation Worship Hour. His unparalleled scholarship, warm disposition and unique style have taken him to public, religious and academic events and venues around the world.
