Major Eric I. Egland (Reserve)
Major Egland’s career has focused on trans-national security threats facing the United States. His experience includes working to defeat terrorism, narcotics trafficking and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in both operational and analytical roles. He has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is the author of The Troops Need You, America: Six Ways to Help Them Win From Your Living Room. The book is based on an essay he published in The Weekly Standard magazine. It explains what needs to change in Iraq, and shows average Americans how to help the troops win.
He recently contributed to Blog of War: Front-Line Dispatches from Iraq and Afghanistan, published by Simon and Schuster. His work was praised publicly by First Lady Laura Bush and he has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News Radio to discuss national security.
Eric is an avid adventurer who, in traveling in over fifty countries, rode horses in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert, tended bar in Estonia, completed the Australian Ironman Triathlon, and played a bit part in a Chinese-American co-produced movie, Restless.
Eric is a native of California. He and his wife, Ania met on a Friday and were engaged by Wednesday. They have been blessed with two children, Noah and Daniel.
